Faculty and Instructional Staff,

In celebration of International Education Week, Lehigh’s Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning and the Office of International Affairs is inviting you to join a meeting of the Virtual International Exchange (VIE) Community of Practice on Wednesday, November 15 from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in EWFM 520. Lunch will be provided.

This session will highlight the experiences of Lehigh’s English 003 students, who recently participated in a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) class with a partnering university in Pakistan. (COILs are just one of the pedagogical approaches to foster Virtual International Exchange.)

Lehigh instructor Jessica Harbaum and Mussarat Shahid from Forman Christian College will discuss their fall semester COIL, after which attendees will have an opportunity to hear from Lehigh students who participated in various COIL experiences. You’ll learn how COIL helps students relate disciplinary subject matter and skills to global issues and real-world experiences.

This event is open to anyone interested in VIE, no matter where you are in the planning process.

Date: Wednesday, November 15, 2023, 12:15pm-1:30pm (lunch included)

Location: EWFM 520

Please RSVP by Monday, November 13.

What is the VIE Community of Practice?

Sponsored by CITL and the Office of International Affairs, Virtual International Exchange (VIE) is an approach to creating student learning experiences that include international partner faculty and students collaborating on assignments, group work, and discussions. This collaborative community is focused on cultivating intercultural connections and sparking innovation in the classroom, as well as research, in support of today’s future makers at Lehigh.

Sincerely,
