The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning invites all Lehigh faculty to our XR Community of Practice fall meet-up on Thursday, November 9 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the CITL Commons located in EWFM Library. Light lunch will be provided.

Our guest speaker will be Joseph Amodei, Assistant Professor of Media Design in the Department of Theatre and CITL Faculty Fellow. In addition to their background and experience with XR development and game design engines, Professor Amodei works at the intersections of performance, virtual reality, design, social justice, public health, and politics. They will share on a wide range of their work including their current course (“Making the Future: Analog, Immersive, and Emerging Media”); future course (“Immersive Design: 3D World Building and Digital Interaction”); their work on the upcoming sci-fi rock musical Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of the Future (which includes the first-ever on-stage utilization of a Meta Quest 3 headset); as well as an overview of their VR oral-history + spatial archiving experience “An Archive of Queer Care.”

In addition, as part of the new LTS Emerging Technologies Labs (“LET’s Lab”) initiative, you will be able to check out and demo the new Meta Quest 3 headset! If you've never been to one of our meet-ups before, it's a great way to make connections with other Lehigh folks with similar interests in XR and immersive learning.

Light lunch will be provided, so please RSVP by Monday, November 6. We hope to see you there!

What is the XR Community of Practice?

Lehigh's XR Community of Practice comprises faculty, students, and staff with an interest in the field of XR and how it can spark innovation in teaching, learning, and research within the Lehigh community and beyond. Through our discussion of all areas of XR including Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, and other immersive learning technologies, we are supporting today’s future makers. We meet once or twice a semester with the purpose of sharing news and information, calls for collaboration across programs, and just general networking with others with similar interests and a desire to explore the fields of XR.

Sincerely,
