Library and Technology Services (LTS) invites faculty to apply to participate in a program that supports the adoption of digital course materials (e.g. library digital resources, faculty-authored material, open access resources, etc.).

The goals of the program are to explore the use of digital course materials in classes at Lehigh; to learn more about how students access, read, and interact with such course materials; and to address concerns about the high cost of textbooks.

What informs our understanding of the middle ages? Why are certain stories told again and again- why do they continue to resonate with us? Special Collections will present an exhibit of selected Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts from Lehigh’s collections this November. Previously exhibited in 1970, texts will be introduced to a new generation of the Lehigh family so that they might become better acquainted with these treasures. Also on display will be facsimiles, supporting research materials, and examples of popular culture highlighting aspects of the medieval period.

Many of us feel we know Charles Dickens well – an old friend, author of many classics remembered from childhood – including Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, and David Copperfield.  We now celebrate Dickens’s 200th birthday – testimony to his now centuries old popularity is the frequency with which new editions are printed, works staged, and stories filmed.

Known simply as the Synthesis Library, this online service is a commissioned collection of monographs (50 to 100 pages) which synthesize current information on specialized topics in engineering fields. The service began in 2005 with electrical/electronics engineering topics and has since expanded to include computer science and biomedical engineering. The authors are recognized experts in their fields and the format is overviews of major research efforts with extensive bibliographies.

So you have the VPN (virtual private network) on your home computers, but it never works for the online Library services. Is technology out to get YOU? AGAIN? No, here's the problem.  The default connection on the VPN is "General" but, if you scroll down, you'll see a "Library" choice. There's a separate Library link because these resources are served differently. Many users fail to see the Library option and/or forget that the system reverts to "General" when they log out.
